Android 6.0 Marshmallow Phones & Release Date – A New Flavor Added

It’s been a while since the Android 6.0 Marshmallow has been officially released on 5th Oct 2015 primarily on Google Nexus devices, but even after months, other devices are still in the queue to get it. There are some major upgrades added in Android 6.0 to make it better than Android Lollipop. We have checked for the updates in the new 6.0 Marshmallow and some of the major upgrades are being listed below.

1. Better Assistance

Now with Marshmallow upgrade you will be getting better Google Now assistance, it has been enhanced with the “Just Tap” feature.

Google now will now be available even when you are using any other app. You will have to just touch and hold the home button or just say “Ok Google” from any screen. Voice interaction with supporting app is also available to make their use more convenient, that means now other apps will also going to react to your Google Now queries.

You will also be able to share with particular contacts in an easier and faster way with preference to frequent contacts, using Direct Share.

2. Power Management

Power Management in Marshmallow

Two power management features are available so that the device battery can last longer. One is DOZE, it puts the device in sleep state automatically, when it is not in use, to enhance the standby battery life.
Another one is “App Standby“,  Apps running in the background also uses battery power and drains it so early. App Standby limits their impact on battery life so battery last longer.
And another thing to notice is the USB Type C Support, for faster data transfer and quick battery charging.

3. Privacy & Security

Every App will ask for permissions when it first need to access something that can be dangerous for your privacy, which can be either granted or denied without having any effect on access of app. Permissions can be modified further as per need for each app, or use the Advanced Controls to turn permissions ON/OFF for all your installed apps at once.

There is one new addition of the Verified boot feature that will notify you, If any change is detected  in firmware or Android OS from its factory version, by any application you have installed.

Now, this new Android will support the fingerprint sensors natively, All kinds of authentication like unlocking the device, purchasing in Google Play and payment of the app can be done through fingerprint sensors.


4. Efficient Performance

You will be now able to do multitasking more efficiently, Application performance is improved by managing the RAM of the device more efficiently. It is expected that the applications will now run more smoothly even if you have less RAM or have multiple apps are running in the background already.

5. Productivity

Typesetting and text rendering performance has been improved and has made the text selection smarter along with built-in undo/redo, and text actions. They are available closer to your fingers whenever you need them.
Text selection and translation on the spot using the Google Translate App.
Duplex printing support has been added that saves the paper.

6. Connectivity

Bluetooth Low Energy (“BLE”) scanning for nearby beacons and your accessories with less power consumption.
Connection with compatible Wi-Fi networks  are seamlessly and securely done using hotspot 2.0.
Bluetooth SIM Access Profile (SAP) is the features  by which one can use  the car phone to make call using your phone’s SIM.
Portable Wi-Fi hotspot now has extended support for 5GHz frequency bands.

7. Increased Memory for App & game

There is a new feature in 6.0 that could be helpful, Using this feature one can use the external storage device as internal storage so that a lot number of  apps and game can be installed, and you will less likely to “running out of space” like issues when installing new applications to your device from the play store.

8. Device Setup and Migrationapp-backup

Transfer  of your accounts, apps and data to a new device is more easier.
Now you can additionally add personal or corporate email account during the first setup of your Android phone.
Additionally system settings such as your Sync settings, preferred apps, Do Not Disturb settings, Accessibility settings and enabled can be backed up and restored.

9. Multimedia

Musical Instrument Digital Interface (MIDI) is supported so that one can create/perform music using your Android device using this feature.

10. Internationalization

Android is globally popular as it is available in 74+ language and this time 6 more languages (Azerbaijani, Gujarati, Kazakh, Albanian, Urdu, and Uzbek) are added.

    Well, there is absolutely nothing new to be excited about but the information you provided is extremely good. I updated my moto g2 and it sucks!!
    Hope u write about some best and must have apps available on playstore in upcoming posts . (y)
