Apple has announced a price hike for battery replacements on its latest high-end smartphones. The tech giant will now charge $119 for out-of-warranty battery replacements on iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max models in the United States, up from $99 for the previous generation.
This 20% increase applies specifically to the Pro models, while the standard iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus will maintain the $99 battery replacement fee. The new pricing structure is detailed on Apple's official iPhone repair and service page.
The higher cost covers both the new battery and the labor performed by Apple Store technicians. However, prices may vary at third-party Apple Authorized Service Providers.
For customers with AppleCare+, battery replacements remain free of charge, but only if the battery's capacity falls below 80% of its original level.
Apple claims that all iPhone 16 models feature larger batteries and have undergone an internal redesign to improve heat dissipation. While rumors suggested a metal enclosure for some iPhone 16 batteries, confirmation awaits thorough device teardowns.
This marks the second battery replacement fee increase in recent years. Apple previously raised the price from $69 to $99 starting with the iPhone 14 lineup.
Here's a breakdown of Apple's current out-of-warranty iPhone battery replacement fees in the U.S.:
- iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max: $119
- iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus: $99
- All iPhone 15 models: $99
- All iPhone 14 models: $99
- All iPhone 13 models: $89
The iPhone 16 series is now available for pre-order, with the official launch set for this Friday.
