Asus has unveiled an innovative computer peripheral that combines functionality with fragrance - the MD101 Fragrance Mouse. This unique device features a removable container for aromatic oils, allowing users to enjoy their favorite scents while working or browsing.
The wireless mouse supports both 2.4 GHz and Bluetooth connectivity, powered by a single AA battery with an estimated one-year battery life. Available in iridescent white or rose clay colors, the mouse offers three DPI settings: 1200, 1600, and 2400.
Built for everyday computing rather than gaming, the mouse incorporates PTFE pads similar to those found in Asus's premium gaming peripherals. The company claims the switches can withstand up to 10 million clicks while maintaining near-silent operation.
The standout feature is the semi-translucent fragrance container located beneath the mouse, behind the battery compartment. Users can fill this washable container with their preferred aromatic oils, though Asus advises against using 100% pure essential oils. Instead, they recommend oils designed for diffusers and aroma stones.
This release follows Asus's previous venture into aromatic technology - a laptop with a built-in fragrance dispenser in its lid. While the laptop required specific fragrance pucks, the new mouse offers greater flexibility in scent choices.
