A new high-performance solid-state drive from Chinese manufacturer Zhitai has demonstrated impressive speeds reaching up to 14.5 GB/s in recent testing. The TiPro9000 SSD combines cutting-edge components including YMTC's latest 3D NAND technology and Silicon Motion's PCIe 5.0 controller.

The 2TB drive features Silicon Motion's SM2508 controller - the company's first PCIe 5.0 controller for consumer PCs - paired with 2GB of LPDDR4X memory and two packages of YMTC's 5th Generation 3D TLC NAND using Xtacking 4.0 architecture.

In benchmark testing, the TiPro9000 achieved sequential read speeds of 14,527 MB/s and sequential write speeds of 13,869 MB/s. While the read performance falls slightly below reference SM2508 drives, the write speeds notably exceed typical results from similar controllers.

The drive maintains peak performance for approximately 24 seconds while utilizing its SLC cache. After this period, speeds decrease to around 4,000 MB/s for 325 seconds before settling at 1,700-1,800 MB/s. Random performance specifications include up to 2 million IOPS for reads and 1.6 million IOPS for writes.

Zhitai backs the TiPro9000 with a five-year warranty and rates the drive for up to 1,200 terabytes written (TBW). While pricing details remain unknown, the performance metrics position this drive as a strong competitor in the high-end PCIe 5.0 storage market.

The combination of Silicon Motion's latest controller technology and YMTC's advanced 3D NAND appears to deliver performance matching or exceeding other top PCIe 5.0 drives currently available. This release demonstrates China's growing capabilities in producing competitive high-performance storage solutions.
