According to recent leaks shared by Front Page Tech, Apple's upcoming iOS 19 update may introduce major design changes inspired by visionOS, featuring a glass-like aesthetic with enhanced translucency across the interface.
The most striking change appears to be rounder app icons, though sources suggest they may not be fully circular like those in visionOS. These redesigned icons are reportedly hidden by default in internal builds, only revealing themselves through an animation when users long-press existing squircle-shaped icons.
A new pill-shaped tab bar is expected to float at the bottom of native apps like the App Store, Apple Music, Messages, and Phone. The search interface has been reimagined with an elongated search bar accompanied by a circular return button, complete with smooth animations when switching between tabs.
The update appears to embrace rounded corners throughout the system, from Haptic Touch menus to Control Center sliders. Permission prompts for camera and microphone access also showcase refreshed designs. The Settings app may feature streamlined toggles, while the default keyboard receives a visual update.
Adding to the glass-like aesthetic, certain UI elements like the Lock Screen's Flashlight and Camera buttons are said to include subtle lighting effects that respond to device movement with a shimmer effect.
The first beta version of iOS 19 is expected to debut following Apple's WWDC keynote on June 9, with the public release anticipated in September.
