Apple's upcoming iPhone 17 Pro lineup may introduce a long-awaited camera capability that lets users record video from both front and rear cameras simultaneously, according to recent reports from tech insider Jon Prosser.

The new dual video recording feature would be built directly into the iPhone's native Camera app, allowing seamless capture of both the main subject and the user's reactions in a single recording. The interface is expected to resemble the current FaceTime layout.

While third-party apps like Snapchat already offer similar functionality, having this capability integrated into the default Camera app would streamline the process for content creators. The feature could particularly benefit YouTubers and TikTok users who want to overlay their facial reactions over their primary footage.

Samsung pioneered this technology over a decade ago with the Galaxy S4 and recently reintroduced it in their Galaxy S21 series. Apple's adoption of dual video recording appears to target the growing vlogging community specifically.

The feature is currently rumored to be exclusive to the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max models, though it remains unclear why this seemingly basic functionality would require premium hardware. There's no indication whether older iPhone models might receive the capability through future software updates.

Apple is expected to launch the iPhone 17 lineup in September, alongside iOS 19 which reportedly features a refreshed design language inspired by visionOS, including glass-like elements and refined animations.

As with all pre-release rumors, these details should be considered speculative until Apple makes an official announcement.
