Apple's upcoming budget-friendly iPhone SE 4 is set for a substantial camera upgrade, according to industry reports. The new model will feature a 48-megapixel rear camera and a 12-megapixel TrueDepth front-facing camera, marking a notable improvement from its predecessor.
LG Innotek will be the primary supplier for both camera modules, with production already underway at their Vietnam facility. This marks the first time LG Innotek will provide both front and rear cameras for the SE series, while Foxconn and Cowell Electronics will supply additional components.
The new camera system shares similarities with the higher-end iPhone 16, including a "Fusion" lens that enables standard and 2x zoom capabilities. However, to maintain competitive pricing, the SE 4 will not include an Ultra Wide camera.
Beyond the camera improvements, the iPhone SE 4 is expected to receive several modern features, including:
- Edge-to-edge OLED display
- Face ID authentication
- A18 chip (same as iPhone 16)
- Apple-designed 5G modem
- USB-C charging port
- 8GB RAM
The redesigned iPhone SE 4 removes the traditional Home Button, bringing its appearance in line with current iPhone designs. Apple aims to maintain quality while keeping the device accessible to budget-conscious consumers, with expected pricing between $400-500.
The release is anticipated for March 2025, offering users flagship-level performance at a mid-range price point. These updates position the SE 4 as a more competitive option in the mid-range smartphone market while maintaining Apple's commitment to quality.
