In response to user feedback, Apple's newest iOS 18.4 beta update now allows users to turn off the controversial "Show Recent Searches" feature in Safari, addressing privacy concerns raised during the testing period.

The feature, which automatically displays recent search history when opening a new Safari tab, was initially launched without an off switch in earlier iOS 18.4 beta versions. The fourth beta release introduces a simple toggle in the Safari settings menu, giving users control over their search privacy.

Users who prefer to keep their browsing history more discreet, particularly when sharing their devices with others, can now disable the feature. When turned off, Safari reverts to its previous behavior from iOS 18.3.2, where recent searches remain hidden when accessing the search window in new tabs.
