Samsung Electronics has announced plans to extend its AI Subscription Club to Galaxy smartphones starting next month, as confirmed by company vice chair Han Jong-hee.
The subscription service, which launched in South Korea last December for home appliances, will now encompass Galaxy phones and the upcoming Ballie AI robot. The expansion marks Samsung's strategic move into device subscription offerings.
According to Samsung, the AI Subscription Club will not impact access to existing Galaxy AI features, which will remain free for users until at least the end of 2025. The current subscription model in South Korea allows consumers to access AI-powered devices with lower upfront costs while including optional repair and maintenance services.
While specific details about pricing and global availability remain unclear, more information may be revealed at Samsung's upcoming Galaxy Unpacked event on January 22nd in San Jose, California. The event is expected to showcase the new Galaxy S25 series smartphones.
This subscription initiative represents Samsung's latest effort to diversify its service offerings while maintaining its position in the competitive smartphone market. The company's approach appears to focus on providing flexible payment options rather than restricting access to core AI features.
As the launch approaches, consumers await further details about subscription benefits, pricing tiers, and potential international rollout plans beyond the South Korean market.
