Meta's text-based social media platform, Threads, has achieved a remarkable milestone, reaching 275 million monthly active users. This achievement highlights the platform's rapid growth since its launch in July 2023.
Adam Mosseri, who heads both Threads and Instagram, shared the news on Sunday, expressing gratitude to users while acknowledging that improvements are still needed. "Yesterday we crossed 275M monthly active users on @Threads. A big thank you to everyone who's helped us get this far. There's a lot more to do, and plenty of things to fix, but there's something exciting about this place," Mosseri stated.
The platform's growth has been impressive, with user numbers increasing by 75 million in just three months. In April, Threads reported 150 million monthly active users, which grew to 200 million by August. This surge in popularity comes as Threads positions itself as an alternative to X (formerly Twitter), which has seen user departures following Elon Musk's acquisition.
Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg recently revealed that Threads is attracting approximately one million new sign-ups daily. However, despite this positive trend, the platform faces challenges, particularly in content moderation, which has been a source of frustration for some users.
Since its launch, Meta has been actively enhancing Threads with new features.
