Apple Releases visionOS 2.2 With Ultrawide Mac Virtual Display

Apple has rolled out visionOS 2.2, introducing expanded display capabilities that transform how users can work with their Mac through Vision Pro headsets.

The standout feature of this update is the enhanced Mac Virtual Display, which now supports wide (21:9) and ultrawide (32:9) aspect ratios. This advancement allows Vision Pro users to experience a virtual workspace equivalent to two 5K monitors placed side by side, without requiring physical display hardware.

The update brings notable improvements for sports enthusiasts as well. Users can now simultaneously watch up to five MLB and MLS games using the Multiview feature, and share live sporting events through SharePlay for a more social viewing experience.

Safari users will appreciate the new ability to interact with spatial photos and videos embedded directly within web pages. The update also introduces Mac audio routing to Apple Vision Pro, enhancing the integrated experience between devices.

Vision Pro owners can access the update through Settings > General > Software Update. The installation process requires removing the headset, with progress visible on the front EyeSight display.

This release represents a practical enhancement for professionals who rely on extensive screen space for their workflow, offering a compelling alternative to traditional multi-monitor setups while maintaining the Vision Pro's versatility for other uses.

The visionOS 2.2 update arrives as part of Apple's broader software rollout, which includes updates across its ecosystem of devices and operating systems.
