Microsoft is expanding its Phone Link capabilities in Windows 11 to include iPhone users, bringing feature parity closer to what Android users have long enjoyed. The latest update introduces a dedicated Phone Link pane in the Start menu for iPhone devices, offering quick access to essential smartphone functions directly from Windows.

The new integration displays key information about connected iPhones, including battery status, connection status, and notifications. Users can also access recent contacts and utilize shortcuts for calls and messages. A notable addition is the ability to transfer files between Windows PCs and iPhones, similar to AirDrop functionality.

This feature is currently available to Windows Insiders in both Dev and Beta channels. To access these new capabilities, users need:

  • A recent Windows 11 preview build
  • Phone Link app version 1.24121.30.0 or higher
  • Bluetooth LE support on their computer
  • A Microsoft Account

The Phone Link pane now appears automatically when opening the Start menu, prompting users to connect their smartphones. Those who prefer a cleaner interface can hide the pane through a simple option.

While Android users have historically enjoyed deeper integration with Windows 11, including screen mirroring and webcam functionality, this update represents Microsoft's ongoing efforts to improve the Windows experience for iPhone users. The rollout is gradual, meaning some users may need to wait before seeing the feature on their devices.
