X is implementing a major price increase for its Premium+ subscription service, raising the monthly cost from $16 to $22 in the United States - a 37.5% jump that marks the steepest hike since Elon Musk's acquisition of the platform in 2022.
The price changes take effect December 21 for new U.S. subscribers, while existing members can keep current rates until January 20. Annual Premium+ subscriptions are also increasing from $168 to $229.
International markets face varying degrees of price adjustments. European Union subscribers will see monthly rates rise from €16 to €21, while Canadian users face an increase from $20 to $29.
Some regions are experiencing particularly steep jumps. In Nigeria, the Premium+ subscription is surging from ₦7,300 to ₦34,000 monthly. Turkish users will see prices climb from ₺300 to ₺770.
X Premium+, which offers an ad-free experience along with additional features, represents the platform's top-tier subscription offering. The company states the price adjustments are needed to maintain service quality. Meanwhile, X's basic subscription level remains unchanged at $3 monthly.
The dramatic price increases come as X continues to evolve its subscription strategy under Musk's ownership, though some markets are clearly bearing a heavier cost burden than others.
