Recent conflicting reports have sparked debate about whether the upcoming iPad 11 will support Apple Intelligence features. While Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman previously indicated the device would include AI capabilities, a new leak suggests otherwise.
According to a reliable anonymous source on X (formerly Twitter), the iPad 11 will feature a chip identified as T8120 - matching the specifications of the A16 processor. This chip currently powers devices like the iPhone 14 Pro series and iPhone 15 models, none of which support Apple Intelligence.
The A16 chip comes with 6GB of RAM, falling short of the current minimum requirements for Apple Intelligence features, which include the A17 Pro chip and 8GB of RAM as seen in the latest iPad mini.
This contradicts Gurman's earlier report that claimed the iPad 11 would ship with the more powerful A17 Pro chip and 8GB of RAM, meeting the specifications needed for Apple Intelligence support.
Both sources have proven reliable in the past regarding Apple-related information, though neither has a perfect track record. One possible explanation could be that Apple plans to release multiple iPad 11 configurations at different price points.
The iPad 11 is expected to launch around March or April, with minimal design changes beyond internal upgrades. Reports also suggest Apple will release an updated Magic Keyboard accessory alongside the new tablet.
As speculation continues, the tech community awaits official confirmation from Apple regarding the device's final specifications and AI capabilities.
