Global app downloads saw a decline in 2024 while consumer spending continued to rise, according to new data from app intelligence firm Appfigures. The findings reveal shifting dynamics in the mobile app ecosystem as it matures.

Consumer spending across the App Store and Google Play reached $127 billion in 2024, marking a 15.7% increase from the previous year. However, this growth was primarily driven by Apple's App Store, which generated $91.6 billion in revenue, up 24% year-over-year.
